I was so pleased to find out that my kitchen, that I did all the interior design and planning for, has been featured on Design*Sponge! I love Design*Sponge so much it’s one of the tabs that open automatically every day of the week when firefox boots up. I’m featured in the ‘Before and After’ section, Cat’s Kitchen, alongside a very lovely boot room by Jodi.
A few people have commented on the Design*Sponge blog asking for photos taken from the same angle, but I don’t have that many, as I did not take the before pictures. Here is my best shot at explaining what we did.
When we bought the house it had a kitchen that was in the middle of the house, with a sun room down one side of it, accessible through a breakfast room at the end of the kitchen. Between the sun room and kitchen was a large window. We removed the large window, leaving the support above in, to open the kitchen into the sun room. The breakfast room door to the sun room was blocked up to make this room into a utility room. So the new kitchen now runs down the side of the room into the sun room. An peninsula unit is in place where the window was, leaving an opening into the sun room. We have a large table and some panton chairs in the bottom end of the kitchen now.
The image above shows the dividing window from inside the sun room, then with the window and wall removed, and finally the new kitchen view from the old sun room. The next set shows the view from inside the kitchen, through the window, then with it removed, and finally the view though the resulting gap (though looking to the left of the room). Perhaps I should take some images from the same angles as my before pictures!
